Expire Craft (JamCraft5)
:--:DISCLAIMER:--:
This game isn't finished, was simply a submission to a time constrained game jam and may be subject to updates and changes after the jam, please be gentle, i'm still new to 3D game deving, so expect bugs, glitches and more!, sorry, :o.
First 3D browser game, beware of issues, :o
NOTE: If you're having issues with the mouse leaving the game screen area, simply click on the game view window a few times, should be a quick fix.
:--:ABOUT IT:--:
A basic resource management and crafting game that I wanted to try making and was partially dared to make. Ironically around the same time the whole JamCraft5 jam was starting soon, so figured why not!
This game is code heavy and most of the time in development was dedicated to making code and making things work, so with that in mind everything, all the assets, are simply cubes. So this is a prototype that looks like basic poop but focus heavy on the programming aspect, so please just keep in mind aesthetics and making things look pretty wasn't the focus especially since this competition was soo time constrained!
:--:CONTROLS:--:
Tab = In game Menu
W, A, S, and D = Movement
Space = Jump
Shift = Sprint
Q and E = Rotating structures in build mode
E = Interacting with various things
1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and 8 = Hot bar buttons
~ = Cheat/Debug Console
:--:HOW TO PLAY:--:
Originally there was going to be an achievement system to give you certain crafting goals before the world expired but I ran out of time so instead this game is just purely basic crafting and resource management.
To equip items and tools, go into inventory, click item then click the hotbar you'd like to assign it to. Press the number 1-8 to equip item!
The three primary resources are Sand, Iron Ore and Sticks, these basic components are key to making your factory line and what not so use them!
Craft tools and structures to help you automatically generate a small westernized factory.
:--:THE STORY:--:
Originally I wanted to make a main menu where you're looking at multiple snow globes on a shelf in a shed, each one a different terrain/world you could play in. For starters there would only be the desert snow globe. Once you hit play a falling tool box would hit the shelf the snow globe was on sending it into the air with a stop watch. Then time would slow down as the camera entered the snow globe and play would begin. You would have a second in reality but to your small size it would be comparable to thirty minutes before the snow globe/world you're in would hit the ground ending the game.
Sadly none of this made into the game since the game jam was only 10 days and being a college student working multiple jobs i just didn't have the time unfortunately.
:--:All In All:--:
I wanted to do a lot, but 10 days for the JamCraft5 really isn't enough time especially given my hectic life schedule so I didn't get much more then the basic concepts in and that's about it! I may not have gotten everything i wanted done, but i'm happy I managed to get this far since i'm still new to making 3D games. If nothing else i can cannibalize this project and make other better things.
But all in all, i'm proud of my unfinished mess, it looks like poo but it's functional poo, XD

this game is fun
thanks, :3
you should work on this game more and take out the timer because who knows if you keep workin on this it could maybe be a big game . i really enjoyed this game thx for makin it.
Thanks, it was originally just meant for a timed theme game jam and was something quick for fast entry. I would certainly like to try again at a resource management game again in the future. But at the moment my major projects will take priority, but sure someday id like to make something like this again but much larger and more in-depth. Anywho, glad you liked the prototype, :3
i think its really good for being fastly made
Oh, btw, i forgot to mention you can toggle the cheat menu with tilda or "~" key, the "timeless" cheat code gives you infinite time and the "loaded" cheat code gives you 50 of each item, enjoy, :3
thx
i kinda make games.you know the games brasins.io and all the other .io games well i make games like those on modd.io.
Oh neat! Always awesome to meet another game dev, :D
Dude this game is amazing
Thanks bud, :3
Odd, still working for me. After hitting the play button try clicking the background for a bit. Should load up in a bit, tis a slow load sadly since this prototype wasn;t optimized well, :3
Hey, if you need some free hands, i would be glad to help. i am pretty good at coding and art design, i will do it for free too!
Oh thanks bud, but this was only a timed jam submission. I don't think i'll be continuing Expire Craft, i may be cannibalizing it into some other type of resource management game down the line. But for now imma focus on making a furry version of Hogwarts. Still thanks for the sweet offer, :D
DUDE! OMG! I CAN"T WAIT FOR THAT! I LOVE FURRY GAMES
Lol, glad you like the concept. It's actually coming along fairly nicely, gonna try and have a demo out by the end of the month or next month. It actually plays and feels a lot like the first 2 harry potter pc games if you've ever played those?, :3
sorry, no i haven't. but hey. if you ever need some help, you can message me!
Thanks bud, i most certainly will probably be asking for some tips down the line, :D
